The Spot-On Model

Energy is Key! Energy isn’t tangible, but everyone can sense when Energy is drained and when Energy is gained.

The Spot-On Model simply shows you where your Energy is low and how you can restore its natural flow.

The Spot-On Model explained

Spot-On maps the energy flow of how you communicate and make choices in a specific situation. You can use it as a guide to positively influence your own life (-energy) as well as that of others. The Spot-On Model works with 2 simple (but all-encompassing) axes:

  1. CONNECTION– to what extent are you connected to yourself (‘ONE’) or to others (‘ONENESS’);
  2. TIME FOCUS – to what extent do you focus on now (‘FOR NOW’) or on the long term (‘FOREVER’).

The Spot-On Axes explained

Your whole life can be mapped on the two Spot-On axes:

THE HORIZONTAL AXIS ('CONNECTION')

The horizontal axis represents what you connect to.

On the left side is ONE, where you connect more with yourself (‘I’). Here you are assertive and independent, communicating privately and making autonomous decisions.

On the right side is ‘ONENESS’ – think of it as ‘WE’ – where you connect more deeply with others and communicate more openly. Here you are seeking consensus and make decisions through consultation.

Some people gain energy by focusing on others, while others gain energy by focusing on themselves. There is no ‘wrong’ or ‘right’ way. Spot-On is not prescriptive, it is about consciously playing with your natural energy flow.

THE VERTICAL AXIS ('TIME FOCUS')

The vertical axis reflects your focus on time. At the top is ‘FOR NOW’, where you focus more on the temporary and the short term. Here you act with a present focused mindset, being practical, action-orientated and grounded. You are focused on the tangible. You communicate from a practical perspective, and your decisions are ad-hoc.

At the bottom is ‘FOREVER’. This is where you focus on the long term and the overall process. Here you are reflective, visionary, and/or spiritual, thinking in terms of processes and visions of the future. Your communication is narrative and abstract. Your decisions are made with the long run-in mind.

In essence the Spot-On model is a simple model. But there is so much more to it. If you want to dive deeper and find out more about paradoxes, limiting mottos and coaching click here.
